Arbon is the ideal starting point

… for discovering the area of the Bodensee (Lake Constance) and nearby Appenzell. In the evenings, relax with a walk by the lakeside or a stroll through the old town. Be sure to try the local fish specialities!

Arbon is easy to get to

with public transport

Arbon is on the direct train line from Zürich to Rorschach, as well as on the line from Schaffhausen to Chur. There are good bus connections to the city of St Gallen and the local area.

by car

Coming from St Gallen and St Margrethen follow the autobahn (motorway). Take the exit signposted Arbon-Süd for the town centre and Arbon-West for the northern part of town as well as the bathing beach and camping ground. From southern Germany we recommend crossing with the car ferry from Friedrichshafen to Romanshorn. From here the main road leads directly into the centre of Arbon.

by bicycle

Get to know the charming “Mostindien” (which is a nickname for the region, referring to the fruit juice (Most) industry here), and the Bodensee by bicycle. Whether you want to discover eastern Switzerland, or the whole of the Bodensee region, or you just want to travel around a smaller area – you can pedal as far as the fancy takes you. By connecting with ferries and trains your options are endless.

Hikers on the G7-Route (the long-distance walking route from Stuttgart to Rome) enjoy a rest here to fortify themselves for the next part of their journey. That aside, the region is criss-crossed with walking paths.

The closest airports are St.Gallen-Altenrhein (several daily flights to and from Vienna), Zürich-Kloten and Friedrichshafen.
